Job description
As part of the ESTEC team you will have the following responsibilities:
- Support the Centre of Competence for Manufacturing and Serial Production, by providing technical inputs and contributing to activities related to industrialisation and serial production matters.
- Contribute to interactions with industry, supporting ESA’s engagement with industrial stakeholders on topics of industrialisation and serialisation.
- Support coordination activities with ESA programmes and directorates, contributing to the alignment and harmonisation of industrialisation-related initiatives across the Agency.
- Provide inputs to cross-domain collaboration, facilitating exchanges between ESA core competences (e.g. standardisation, modelling and simulation, artificial intelligence, industrial policy and smart manufacturing) and external partners.
- Support the identification and assessment of advanced production practices and technologies, contributing to the scouting of methodologies, hardware, software, and automation solutions relevant to space manufacturing.
- Support the assessment and adoption of advanced production techniques, including automation, quality control and modular manufacturing approaches for space and ground systems.
- Contribute to collaborative activities with European manufacturers and production experts, supporting efforts to optimise supply chains, improve manufacturing efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Provide technical inputs to training activities and digital maturity assessments, supporting the definition of benchmarks and best practices for industrialisation within the space sector.
- Contribute to the definition and preparation of demonstration facilities, such as model factories or testbeds, aimed at validating advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Support the development of digital frameworks, including concepts such as product passports for improved traceability, circularity, and supply chain resilience.
- Contribute to the evolution of ESA’s industrialisation strategy and related standards, including inputs to ECSS standards (e.g. ECSS-I) and policy discussions.
- Support the relationship-building activities, providing inputs to ESA’s engagement with industry, Member States, and partner agencies to foster a robust and innovative industrial ecosystem.
- Contribute to the creation and strengthening of industrial capabilities, supporting initiatives for the development of scalable production capabilities for space products and applications.
- Provide inputs to scaling-up initiatives, including demand forecasting, capability mapping, and assessments of industrial capacities and facilities.
- Support design studies and trade-off analyses, contributing industrialisation expertise to promote modular, standardised, and scalable approaches.
- Provide inputs to ESA’s tendering and procurement activities, supporting the assessment of industry’s capacity to deliver systems and equipment at scale.

Qualifications
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
- Master's degree in aerospace from a recognised Institution or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in planning, scheduling, configuration/data management and process monitoring, with ability to introduce automation and digital tools.
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, integration, test, logistics, and supply chain optimisation, including value stream mapping and sustainability measures.
- Knowledge of industrialisation and serial production methods and advanced production technologies.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
