Operations Engineer Training

Key Tasks and Responsibilities              

As part of the team, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Define Starlab Crew and Ground Support Personnel (GSP) training facility concepts including simulators and physical training facilities for system and payload training activities;
  • Support definition of training methods and tools: classroom, simulators of varying fidelity, self-study materials, and/or interactive computer-based applications;
  • Elaborate use of next-generation training tools and approaches, e.g., virtual reality, artificial intelligence-guided, remote, just-in-time, and/or on-demand training technologies;
  • Perform training facility related trades, e.g., reuse of existing facilities versus new facilities;
  • Define training related program requirements;
  • Support definition of Crew and GSP certification process and requirements;
  • Close collaboration with other Starlab teams: Crew Health and Medical System (H&MS), S&MA, SE&I, Robotics, Flight Crew, Ground Support, and Mission Operations teams;
  • Support Human Systems Integration (HIS) process;
  • Participate in Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) validation and test activities;
  • Contribute to associated RFIs/RFPs;
  • Participate in program reviews;
  • Coordination with other training teams, e.g., NASA, Commercial Crew Transport and Cargo;
  • Perform other duties as agreed and required;
  • Manage training offer within complex Aircraft programmes;
  • Define the training policy and implement strategy for specific customers;
  • Manage simulation / pilot & technician training projects;
  • Perform all project management office activities such as budget controlling, planning and risk analysis for training programs.

Skills & Experience

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • Master´s degree in aerospace, electrical/mechanical engineering, computer science (or equivalent) is required;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of spacecraft operations/engineering, preferably with a focus on mission training and/or operations;
  • Knowledge of spacecraft systems and subsystems architectures and mission training concepts;
  • Ability to define and support programmatic aspects like engineering schedule and risks;
  • Ability to generate and review technical documentation, e.g., SPECs, IRD/ICD;
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes, techniques, e.g., with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools (e.g., CAMEO), Requirements Engineering and tools (DOORS, JAMA);
  • Basic knowledge of computer-aided design;
  • Ability to support integration and test activities on hardware and software;
  • Effective at working in a multi-disciplinary and transnational team;
  • Ability to learn fast, able to work pro-actively and comfortable working in full autonomy, attention to details;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Flexible in working time and open-minded spirit;
  • Flexible in supporting business missions as required;
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
