Galileo L2/L3 Maintenance Engineer

Key Tasks and Responsibilities              

As part of the Galileo Service Operator (GSOp) L2/L3 Galileo Mission Segment (GMS) Maintenance team at DLR , you will have the following responsibilities:

Corrective Maintenance (SW): Incidents and Anomalies assigned to L2

  • Restore Service/Restore Redundancy;
  • Investigate root cause/support OR assessment/OPS and L1;
  • Provide way forward (HW repair, recovery procedure, escalation to AR;
  • Implementation solution via SDT REQ;

Corrective Maintenance (HW) : Incidents and Anomalies assigned to L2;

  • Restore Service/Restore Redundancy (installation & configuration of HW);
  • Support OR assessment/OPS and L1 queries;
  • Investigate root cause;
  • Implement solution (via CCR if required);
  • Issue of the Return Material Authorisation (RMA);
  • Sending of a replacement unit (repair or new);
  • Shipping to destination (GCC or GISLC);

Preventive Maintenance (SW and HW)

  • Maintenance Procedures Execution as per GMS/GSMC maintenance manuals;

Skills & Experience

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master´s degree in engineering or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in Operations or maintenance of complex ICT environments as well as in Ground systems testing and validation. 
  • Experienced using Linux and Linux scripting.
  • Software development and/or Software Validation experience.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare or Docker is good to have.
  • Software/Web development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of network configuration and design
  • Availability to support on-call service
  • Active PSC (personal security clearance)
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
