We are currently looking for an Optics and Opto-Electronics Laboratory Technician to support our customer in the Netherlands.

Optics and Opto-Electronics Laboratory Technician

Key Tasks and Responsibilities                  

Working for the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management (D/TEC) of ESA/ESTEC within the Optics and Opto-Electronics laboratory, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and expansion of laboratory software pool by writing code in various languages;
  • Installation and maintenance of computer software and hardware for measurement, data acquisition and analysis with support of ESA IT support;
  • Maintaining the inventory, maintenance & calibration database on the OOEL SharePoint Portal;
  • Execute weekly and monthly laboratory checklists;
  • General maintenance and servicing of optical, electro-optical and electronics equipment and infrastructure;
  • Assistance with the administration of the laboratory ISO 17025 accreditation documentation system, record keeping and audit preparation;
  • Assistance with installation of electrical harnesses for measurement setups;
  • Assistance with data acquisition for experiments;
  • Handling the electrical safety inspections (NEN3140);
  • Handling the routine ordering of laboratory materials;
  • Implementation and maintenance of applicable safety rules and regulations;

Skills & Experience

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years work in a relevant field;
  • Experience in designing and implementing automatic control of instruments and   data acquisition in Linux, Windows and optionally embedded environments;
  • Expert knowledge of Python and C/C++ programming language;
  • Experience in computer based measurement automation and data analysis (e.g. Python, C, C++, Matlab etc.);
  • Experience with working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory is an asset;
  • Experience with electrical safety (NEN3140) requirements, preferably authorized to perform NEN3140 inspections;
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
